Things To Know At Camp
Here are some commonly asked questions at camp:
When are we allowed to have a shower?
You are allowed to have a shower in the morning before breakfast or during your free time before dinner.
When am I allowed to leave my cabin in the morning?
You are not allowed to leave your cabin before 7:30 in the morning.
We are not allowed to make noise while the camp staff are still sleeping.
What if I need to go to the bathroom? During the day? At night?
When ever you are suppose to be with your group or a group someone in charge needs to know where you are.
When you go during the day you must always been with a buddy.
At night, you need to tell your cabin leader that you are going.
Am I allowed to go and visit my friends at another cabins?
You are allowed to go to another cabin, but YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED IN!!!
You are also not allowed near the other genders cabin. Therefore, girls can not be near the guys cabins and guys can not be near the girls cabin.
Why are there different paths for girls and guys to take to their cabins?
Girls are to be on the front path to their cabins.
Guys MUST take the back path to their cabins.
What happens when it is time for breakfast, lunch and dinner?
We will meet outside the dinning hall before every meal. I will make sure that everyone is accounted for.
When the bell goes (this is telling us that the food is ready and that it is starting to get cold) I will let you in 1 cabin at a time.
There are no shoes and no head gear (hats, bandannas, etc) allowed in the dining hall.
We go in and sit with our cabins.
Eating is a relaxing time. There is no need to fool around.
One person from each table will be the scraper and one will be the stacker.
Every cabin will either set up or clean up the dining hall.
When are we allowed to go swimming?
There will swimming during most of your free time.
We need to make sure that the camp has a life guard on duty when we go.
There will be swimming during our beach party on the Thursday.
Do we have to do a talent at the talent show?
YES!
Every cabin needs to do something at the talent show on Wednesday night.
You can act out a skit, or a joke – you can sing and dance – you can demonstrate a skill (juggling, yo-yo, etc.)
You must make sure that EVERYONE IN YOU CABIN IS INVOLOVED!!!
How late can we stay up?
There will a snack in the dining hall at the end of each night.
You will have to go to the bathroom, brush your teeth, get into you cabins and be ready between 10:00 and 10:30.
At 10:30 you will not be allowed out of your cabin. We will come around and do a line check to make sure that everyone is where they need to be.
You are allowed to talk after 10:30 but there should be NO MOVEMENT within the cabin and you need to be VERY QUIET. The rest of the island is sleeping and we don’t want to have an grumpy cook in the morning making our food.
Am I allowed to go and lay down in my cabin if I am not feeling well?
NO!
You are not allowed to be in your cabin by yourself.
You will be sent to the infirmary where the island medical person will look after you. You will then be able to rejoin your group when they say it is all right.
Do I have to do what my cabin is doing?
You have to do what your cabin is doing during the scheduled times.
You are able to hang out with other people during free time.
If my clothes get all wet, how can I get my mom to do my laundry?
You can’t!
You will have a clothes line outside your cabin where you can put wet clothes that you would like to dry.
Besides that . . . I hope you brought enough clothes.
I am allergic to dish soap, therefore I can’t do pots!
Nice try! But we can get gloves for you to wear.
I don’t like the food that is being served. What do I do?
You will unfortunately need to find something that you do like to eat at every meal. The camp follows the Canada food guide for food requirements.
There will be a lot of food, as long as people don’t waste food, and there is always fruit to eat at the end of each table.
Can I go down on the rocks and look for fish or to go fishing?
You are only allowed on the rocks with a teacher.
You are allowed to go fishing when you are with a teacher.
You are allowed by the water . . . you guessed it . . . when you are with a teacher.
Is there running water in the bathrooms?
Yes there is.
The main bathrooms have running water and porcelain toilets (no heated seats, sorry)
They also have hot water tanks so there will be some warm water as well.
Do we have any spare time to chillax with our hommies?
You have free time everyday after your final activity and before dinner.
Is there poison ivy on the island?
oThere has been some on the Island, but the staff try to get rid of all of it so we can enjoy our time.
Are there bears? Wolves?
Yes, but not on our Island!
There are other animals:
Deer’s, squirrels, rabbits, and other herbivores.
