Binder

Classroom Guidelines
All students are expected to abide by these guidelines:

2.  Respect all others around you (a positive attitude is expected from all students).
        3.  Respect yourself.

Homework
While most assignments will be given work time during class, students are expected to complete unfinished assignments at home by the date specified.  If students fail to do this, students will be expected to remain after school to complete the work.  Exceptions will be made for extenuating circumstances at the teacherís discretion.
Progress Reports
Although the studentís Agenda will be the primary means of communication between parents/guardians and the teacher, a progress report will be sent home during each term in an effort to keep both the student and parents/guardians well informed of the studentís progress.  The progress reports will require a parent/guardianís signature.

Grade 6
Leisure Art Course Outline

This year the grade 6 students will be exposed to varies forms of art.  Students will be using and practicing basic techniques of studio art, as well as learning about Elements and Principals of Art.

Objective:  The objective for this class is to develop and practice skills that have been taught during the year.

- drawing and sketching
- playdough pictures
- abstract  painting
- collages
- self portraits
- 3-D pop-ups
- variety of other activities including drama if time permits

A good mark in Leisure Art class is very attainable.  It requires that you follow instructions, complete your projects and try your best.  Your projects will be marked based on what you demonstrated in class and instructions followed.
Mark breakdown will be as follows:
        Assignments & Projects  80%
        Learning Skills         20%

I look forward to getting to know your child by providing them with creative challenges and many opportunities to take pride in their work.
Ms. Nova

CLASSROOM RESPONSIBILITIES

Supplies Needed ñ It is critical that all students bring the necessary materials to Art class.  If they do not, then they will be unable to work on projects during class time and will be expected to complete their assignments after school or at home.  When supplies run low the student is expected to notify their parents that it is time to replenish their needed supplies.  These are the required supplies for each ART CLASS:

  • White Eraser
  • Pencils (HB)
  • Scissors
  • Glue (liquid glue as well as a glue stick)
  • Ruler
  • Markers
  • Pencil Crayons
There will be consequences for repeatedly not bringing needed supplies.  A phone call to the parents will be made if necessary.

Learning Skills ñAll students are expected to be responsible learners.  This means that students will be expected to not only bring supplies but also to spend class time wisely, work on their assignments, and to then turn these assignments in on time.  Constant interruptions due to talking and unnecessary movement within the class will not be tolerated, as this makes it very difficult for those students who are working.  Students will be given a warning but will then be asked to leave the room, visit the office, and/or possibly phone home.  Art class involves the use of many potential ìmessyî mediums and it is necessary for students to be respectful and take care when using these items.  It is the studentsí responsibility to clean up at the end of every class.
Please review this course outline with your son/daughter, sign at the bottom, and return to Ms. Nova by Friday, September 26th.  Thank you.
